Base & drainage
Subgrade preparation, laser-graded slope, perimeter and surface drainage, compacted aggregate base, and geotextile separation where specified.
Footing
Footing depth and material are matched to discipline and installed to the depth and consistency the footing supplier specifies — because consistency of installation is half of footing performance.
Crown & slope
Enough fall to shed water, not so much that the surface rides uneven. We set it, verify it, and check it after compaction.

- A compacted, well-drained, correctly graded sub-base and base course. Footing on a poor base breaks down no matter how good the footing is.
- How much crown or slope does an arena need?
- Enough to move water off the surface without affecting the ride — typically a slight consistent fall set by the design and the footing depth.
- Covered or open — does the base change?
- Yes. Covered arenas shift the drainage problem to the perimeter and change moisture management, which affects base and footing choices.
