Post-Fire Stabilization

After a burn, bare ground moves fast — and the first heavy rain can send it downhill. We stabilize burn-scarred slopes with emergency erosion control, geocell and blanket armoring, and regrading for drainage, protecting what's downslope while the land recovers.

Why speed decides the outcome

Fire changes soil, not just vegetation. Heat can leave a water-repellent layer below the surface, so rain sheds instead of soaking in — on a slope stripped of canopy and roots. Runoff and erosion spike in the first storm season after the burn, which is the window that matters.

Emergency controls

First moves are about slowing water and holding soil with what can go in fast.

  • Wattles and fiber rolls staked on contour
  • Check dams in drainages to cut velocity and trap sediment
  • Perimeter controls at property lines and crossings
  • Mulch or bonded fiber matrix on steep, hard-to-reach faces
  • Debris and basin cleanouts to keep existing drainage working

Armoring & regrading

Once the immediate risk is triaged, we armor with geocell and blankets and regrade for drainage so the slope holds through full wet seasons while vegetation re-establishes.

Frequently asked questions

Why is speed critical after a fire?
The highest-risk period is the first storm season after the burn, before any vegetation returns. Controls installed after that first rain are already behind the damage.
What controls do you install on burn scars?
Contour wattles, check dams, perimeter controls, mulch or bonded fiber matrix, blankets, and geocell armoring, plus regrading to route water safely.
Do you work with agencies and insurers?
Yes. We work to agency and engineer direction and can document scope and conditions for insurance and reimbursement purposes.
